About BookingVerdict
BookingVerdict is an independent editorial publication reviewing booking, scheduling, and POS software for service businesses. We're a synthesis publication, not a testing lab: we systematically read G2 and Capterra peer reviews from SMB operators with 6+ months of platform ownership, salon-owner Facebook groups, r/smallbusiness threads, trade press (Salon Today, Modern Salon, American Spa), and vendor documentation, then present the synthesis through a transparent 5-criteria framework weighted for peak-Saturday operational reality.
What we cover
- Salon, barber, and nail-studio booking & POS
- Spa, wellness, and medspa appointment software
- Fitness studio class booking and recurring memberships
- Medical and dental scheduling (HIPAA-compliant)
- Tour, activity, and hospitality reservation systems
- Professional services (lawyers, photographers, consultants) appointment software
What we don't cover
- Generic CRMs not built for appointment-driven service businesses
- Workforce / shift management software (different category)
- Restaurant POS without booking integration
How we work
Every review applies a five-criteria weighted scoring rubric (Booking flexibility, POS reliability, Mobile experience, Reporting depth, Customer support), plus the busy-Saturday filter: we weight aggregated owner reports from peak-volume contexts (60+ appointment Saturday rushes, multi-stylist commission close, end-of-month payroll) more heavily than steady-state reports, because that's where platforms actually fail. Our full methodology is on our methodology page.
Editorial independence
We participate in affiliate programs for many products we cover. This is disclosed at the top of every article in compliance with FTC guidance. We do not allow vendors to review or influence our coverage before publication. A product's affiliate commission rate has no bearing on its score, position, or recommendation.
Who writes for BookingVerdict
All articles are produced by the BookingVerdict Editorial Team. We publish under a single editorial byline rather than rotating individual authors. Where domain expertise is required (multi-location operations, payment processing nuance, specific vertical workflows), we cite from trade-press coverage, vendor documentation, and aggregated G2 + Capterra owner reports from operators with established posting history. We don't invent anonymized practitioner quotes.
